Our Story

Where history meets modern luxury in the heart of Vancouver

The Journey

1947

Started as a modest bank building. The underground vaults were originally built to store gold reserves during post-war reconstruction. Pretty wild to think about all that history beneath our feet, right?

1982

The building sat empty for years before a private collector saw potential. Those vaults? Perfect climate control, built like fortresses. He transformed 'em into wine storage - and honestly, it was genius.

2008

Full renovation began. We kept every original vault door, every steel beam. The goal was merging that old-world security with proper luxury accommodations. Took three years but worth every minute.

2011

Grand opening of Obsidrix Vault Hotel. We brought together luxury hospitality with something you can't find anywhere else - genuine bank-grade security for your most prized possessions.

2025

Today we're hosting collectors, connoisseurs, and folks who just appreciate the finer things. The vaults now protect everything from rare wines to vintage watches, while our suites deliver comfort you won't forget.

The Vision Behind It All

Look, we're not gonna pretend this place came from some corporate boardroom. Our founder, Marcus Chen, spent 15 years as a sommelier and private wealth consultant. He'd seen too many clients struggling to find proper storage for their collections - whether it was wines, art, or family heirlooms.

When he stumbled upon this abandoned bank building in 2007, something clicked. Those vaults weren't just functional - they told stories. Every scratch on the steel, every layer of paint, decades of protecting what mattered most to people.

Instead of tearing it down, Marcus saw an opportunity. What if you could stay somewhere luxurious AND know your treasures were safe? Not in some off-site facility, but right here, steps from your suite. That's how Obsidrix Vault was born - equal parts hotel, guardian, and conversation piece.

What Makes Us Different

We're not trying to be the biggest or flashiest. There are only 28 suites here, and that's intentional. Each guest gets personalized attention - our concierge team actually remembers your preferences after the first visit.

The vault access is real, not some gimmick. Biometric security, climate monitoring, insurance-grade protection. We've got collectors storing bottles worth more than sports cars down there, and they sleep easy knowing we've got their backs.

Plus, there's something cool about sipping a 50-year-old Bordeaux in our dining room, knowing it came from a vault that once held gold bullion. History you can taste, y'know?

Come See For Yourself

Whether you're storing a collection or just want to experience something unique, we'd love to show you around. The vault tours alone are worth the visit - you'll see engineering from a time when they really built things to last.
